A Live Oak man was arrested Sunday afternoon for shooting his sister, according to police reports. Michael Ford, 53, of 521 SW Walker Avenue, was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm after allegedly shooting his sister, Sharline D. Brown, 50, of the same address, said Live Oak Police Det. Sgt. Ron Shaw.

According to reports, officers responded to the residence at around 5:29 p.m. Sunday in response to a shooting.

Witnesses at the scene reportedly took Brown to a location on Irvin Avenue, where she was treated by county emergency officials.

A brief standoff between Ford and officers ensued at his home at Walker Avenue after officers arrived, say reports, but Ford eventually surrendered to police about 15 minutes later. The gun allegedly used in the shooting was recovered inside the residence. Shaw said numerous guns were found within the residence.

Officers say Brown was struck in the head by a single bullet and was lifeflighted to Shands UF from Shands Live Oak.

Shaw said Brown was in stable condition Monday at Shands UF.

"No motive for the shooting has been determined at this time," Shaw said Monday.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Ford is being held at the Suwannee County Jail. Bail has been set at $100,000.
