The family of Nikki Ford, the 25-year-old 911 dispatcher who died in an automobile accident July 11, is mourning yet another loss. Ford's two-month-old son died early Saturday morning - the day of his mother's funeral - said family members and local authorities.

Grandmother Celestine Collins said she found Jaryn D. Jones unresponsive at around 6 a.m. Saturday. Collins said she called 911 for help, but when rescue arrived they pronounced the baby dead. The family has asked an autopsy be performed. The cause of death was not immediately apparent. It is not known whether the baby had prior health problems.

Ford's funeral was held as scheduled at 1 p.m. Saturday at African Baptist Church on Walker Avenue.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Ford family said they were holding up well, under the circumstances.

"Through thick and thin, the family will always stick together," the spokesperson said.

Sheila Knight, who supervised Ford at her job as a 911 Suwannee County dispatcher, said she felt for the family.

"Ordinarily after you leave the cemetery it's over, but it's not over for their family. It is so sad," Knight said.

Funeral arrangements for Jaryn D. Jones were not available at press time.
