UPDATE: TROPICAL STORM FAY

By Barbara Gill

The outlook from the National Weather Service, through 4:30 p.m.: a broken band of showers will rotate southwestward from Jacksonville Beach west to Starke, then southwest to Newberry. Rain and showers rotating around the center of Tropical Storm Fay cover Flagler County, Lake George and portions of the Ocala National Forest. This activity is rotating south toward Orlando, then rotating northward over Cape Canaveral coming back on shore between Daytona Beach and St Augustine. Residents in the path of these rain areas can expect brief heavy rain, gusty winds, flooding of low-lying areas and reduced visibility on roadways. As Fay moves closer to our area, rainfall potential will increase as rain bands spread north. As a result, a flood watch remains in effect for all of Northeast Florida.
