RANT & RAVE - Sept. 26

Suwannee Countians, it's time to speak your mind! How? By calling the Suwannee Democrat Rant and Rave hotline. The hotline never closes and is your way to let it out. You can let everyone know how you feel -- as long as you express yourself in a respectful way.

Note: In written entries to Rant and Rave, errors in spelling, grammar or punctuation are those of the authors.

Well once again, we the taxpayer are having to pay for the mess our civic leaders have lead us into. We turn over our services to OMI, who so far have given us poorer service at a higher price.

Is it OMI's fault. NO! It's the fault of the people who should be overseeing what they do. No one is watching!! All you have to do is open your eyes.

Since OMI took over, yard trash pickup has been spotty, at best. When they do decide to pick up, they leave 20 to 30 percent behind, laying all over the yard and street. They don't care, no one is in charge, so why bother to get it all.

Since they (city council members) think charging the taxpayers more will make things better, maybe we as taxpayers should start calling and complaining every time OMI does a sloppy job.

One reason given for the increase was higher gas prices. Can't tell you how many times I have seen city trucks, big and small ride through our neighborhood doing absolutely nothing except wasting gas. Never stopping to pick up trash, check out a problem, just riding through. -- Concerned Tax Payer

Please refer to page 2A of Friday's edition of the Suwannee Democrat. Proven educators in bold print. As an educator I'm very concerned. The quote given does not even have a grammatically correct sentence. As an educator I'm concerned if this is proven education. Maybe it's time for proven leadership so that we can get educators who can properly express themselves and correctly communicate in proper English.

This is in response to the person who wrote in about the middle school not using accelerated math. I'm not sure where they got their information, but my daughter and her friends have been doing it since the second week of school. I wish they didn't have it, but they do. So maybe that person should check with all the teachers at the middle school.

Let me tell you about our county commissioner Randy Hatch. We have been trying to get Hughes Road paved for over forty years and last year they finally said they would pave it. So what does Mr. Hatch do? He gives the money away to a northern district because he thinks that they are going to have to vote county wide and he wanted to buy votes. Well they don't have to vote for him and we didn't get our road paved. We still drive on a dirt road, and put up with the dust, mud and potholes while he stays in Branford on his nice paved road.

I would just like to comment on your ad in the paper it said yesterday how 32 arrests was made. It seems to me they said confidential informants lead to the arrests, but yet Sheriff Cameron only thanked all the agents involved. I think the confidential informants also deserve a thank you for a job well done it seems clearly that they lead to all the arrests.
